Whiskey Pete used to own a filling station in the remote desert outside of Las Vegas. As a side business, Pete sold moonshine, earning him his nickname. I believe Whiskey Pete’s is also haunted by the spirit of Clyde Barrow from Bonnie and Clyde fame. Whiskey Pete’s has the famed “Death Car” on display in the hotel. This car is the very one that Bonnie and Clyde were in when they were shot to death. Clyde’s bullet-ridden shirt is also on display.

I have been to this hotel and I found it very eerie to stand there and look right at this fragile old shirt with bullet holes all through it, and to know that someone died wearing it. There were tiny brown stains rimming the holes from the dried blood. The presence of the car itself was daunting as well…many bullet holes can be seen through the doors and the seats. You can feel a palpable presence in the air. Whether it’s just from the gravity of the history displayed, or the essence of the long-dead killers, something is tangible in the air there. I think this location is well worth more investigation.
